The Ice Chest!

CC

Be "Cooler" on the River

Packing drinks for your float is a must! The river is cold but it's going to be hot! Beer is typically what people drink but make sure you drink some water, and pack snacks also... we've had people offering us $50 for a sandwich, and people will do anything for a slice of jerky. Outfitters will rent you a tube for your ice chest but keep in mind in some areas of the Guadalupe and the entire Comal river ice chest size is regulated. (see River Information page) Make sure that your ice chest has a locking lid or use a bungee to secure it ... one rapid section or a tube shoot and you'll have "free beer" scattering the river. Jell-O Shots are also great little snack (No longer Legal on the Comal and Guadalupe Rivers inside the City Limits)... and those girls love them! We had one guy on the San Marcos abandon everything he had because we through him a Jell-o Shot! Retail Stores also sell floating ice chest designed for pool or river use, that also meet Comal County regulations.

NO STYROFOAM!

Yes it does float ... yes it will hold your drinks ... but not for long ... Styrofoam coolers can't take the abuse of the river and it's logs, and boulders. After a short time of abuse the chest will break apart, and your drinks and snacks will float away, and the styrofoam will litter the river.

NO GLASS!

Most if not all campgrounds and outfitters ban glass containers on or near the river. And for good reason, broken glass is hazardous! you wouldn't want to end your trip early with a trip to the ER.

The Fun Stuff.

Many will bring along there MP3 players or radio's to add a little music for there river enjoyment! But keep them DRY, it will get wet if you don't protect it.

Ipod

Check out our Cruzin Cooler ... I wouldn't take it out the River, but a lot of fun out of the water!
