GLASS Containers and STYROFOAM Coolers are prohibited by Law on all rivers and will be confiscated. Violators may be subject to arrest and fines. Coolers and Ice Chests may be checked for Glass Containers by law enforcement officials.

New safety measures are in place this year for the Comal River and the portion of the Guadalupe River within the city limits below Gruene Bridge.

No glass -No foam containers - No volume drinking devices -No containers under 5 fluid oz.(this is due to "jell-O Shot containers being littered and complaints from the residents.) - Noise devices may not be audible beyond 50 ft. - No jumping from bridges, dams and trees - No littering - Maximum permitted cooler size is 16 qt Coolers must have a locking mechanism on the lid (zipper, Velcro, latch, cord) - One cooler per person -Vessels on the rivers may not be over 18ft in length - Life jackets are recommended for children under eight and weak swimmers

Note: A suggestion if you need more beer than your cooler can hold. Most outfitters will supply you with an onion sack for garbage that you can tie to your tube when floating ... stock this sack with beers or other drinks prior to starting your float, so as your ice chest gets empty refill it with drinks from the sack. And as cold as that river is, they should be pre chilled.
